About

Twenty years across the US, Japan, and Southeast Asia.

I'm Yohei Nishiyama — a business development and executive operations leader focused on cross-border go-to-market between US tech companies and Japan, and increasingly the rest of APAC.

What I do

I help US-headquartered technology companies enter and scale in Japan and APAC — from Series B startups deciding whether to hire their first country manager, to public companies rebuilding a regional GTM motion that stopped compounding. My work typically spans market entry strategy, partner and channel design, executive hiring, and the operational scaffolding that lets a US HQ actually execute overseas.

Where I've operated

My career has moved between Tokyo, the Bay Area, and Ho Chi Minh City. I've worked inside US public tech companies, Japanese enterprises, and Southeast Asian startups — building teams, closing enterprise deals, and standing up regional operations.

How I think

The hard part of cross-border GTM is almost never the product. It's the translation layer: how a US-designed motion — pricing, packaging, sales process, partnership model — has to be re-fit for a market that buys, decides, and trusts differently. Most of what I write about lives in that translation layer.
